AAA, an art collector, promised BBB, an art student, that if BBB could obtain certain rare artifacts within 2 weeks, AAA would pay for BBB's postgraduate education. At considerable effort and expense, BBB obtained the specified artifacts with in the 2-week period. When BBB requested payment, AAA refused. AAA claimed that there was no consideration for the promise. BBB would prevail against AAA based on

契約には、当事者双方が互いに約束をする双務契約(bilateral contract)と、一方が他方に一方的に約束する片務契約(unilateral contract)があります。片務契約の申込（unilateral offer)は、被申込者の行為によって( by action of offeree) 申込みが承諾されるものと申込者が期待するときに存在します。片務契約は、被申込者が申込者の要求する行為を履行することにより承諾した時に成立します。

BBBによって2week以内に美術品を探し出すという承諾に当たる行為がなされたときに、有効な契約が成立しています。Quasi contract とは当事者の一方の犠牲の上に他方が不当に利益を得た（unjustly enriched)場合に、当事者間の明治の合意ではなく法により契約が成立したとみなし、救済を図るものです。
